What You Can Expect from this Course

Unit 1: I Don't Think You Heard Me

In Unit 1, after a brief introduction to the course from Dr. Schwartz, we dive right into communication – why it’s essential, why it’s hard, and how to get better at it – from moderating our daily interactions to navigating heated arguments. They will also learn one strategy for working through those more chronic communication issues to create greater understanding of a partner’s needs in a relationship.

Pepper Schwartz, PhD

A love that lasts – that’s what Dr. Pepper Schwartz’s programs with Life Reimagined help you find. Dr. Schwartz has published 22 books and regularly makes television appearances including Married at First Sight on A&E. Through her work, she shares research and advice on such topics as dating in mid-life, marriage throughout the lifespan, communication strategies, and more.

Dr. Schwartz is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Washington in Seattle. She holds a B.A. and an M.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from Yale University.
